U Visa
The U visa is an option available for victims of serious crimes who have cooperated with U.S. authorities in the investigation or prosecution of those crimes. The U visa provides victims the opportunity to live and work in the United States and eventually obtain permanent residency if they meet certain requirements.
To obtain a U visa in the United States, you must meet certain requirements. First, you must be a victim of a qualifying crime and have suffered physical or mental abuse as a result. Additionally, you must have cooperated or be willing to cooperate with authorities in the investigation or prosecution of that crime.
Once you meet these requirements, you must submit a U visa petition to the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). If your petition is approved, you can obtain a U visa that will allow you to reside and work legally in the United States for a specified period.
